The Standard
Play to hear in the writer's voice
Today I have to sit down - pen on paper,
With respect to the efforts that wade you through life's hot pepper
Motive neither to rebuke nor praise,
Rather to remind of matters at hand,
Rather to remind of matters at hand,
Claim not you have lost,
Oh no! victory is our land.
Oh no! victory is our land.
I remind you everyday of how deeply you have sunk,
You have the words that can change the world,
But you are biting your tongue,
But you are biting your tongue,
Created the song in your heart,
but the words lingered deep in the lungs,
but the words lingered deep in the lungs,
Never coming out,
And you wish they ever did after the song is sung,
I wanna remind you of your blessings - as many as the shunned back to bank bulk of sand,
And the reason for hesitation child of procrastination we never understand,
Because when others are sitting, we all have to stand,
When others are standing to listen, we are on the stand,
they succumb to pain, pressure, past and present - all that we must withstand,
And when they cant withstand for them we stand up.
They learn to stand up they find us up standing.
Strong feet among the weak, meek among the sleek, sweet within the reek,
We stand out.
We stand out.
With the spirit of cause, syllables of jokes and rays of hope relieving human yoke:
Outstanding.
And when everyone else is soaking silk in sweat searching, surfing, and seeking,
Say,
A seemingly strong a strand to hold and be good at,
We are the standard!
